The Good
Historically, developing a technology tool has required two primary roles; builders (IT professionals) and users (everyone else). An article in the Harvard Business Review outlines how a new role is emerging called Citizen developers. Individuals who are able to develop complete applications with little to no programming experience.
The Bad
When everyone can reuse stuff, it's hard to figure out who deserves credit and value. Forbes discusses the tricky parts of innovation, artists' rights, and the need for rules to help AI fit into society smoothly.
The Ugly
The Arizona Attorney General is rightfully upset about the data breach from 23andMe. The data breach is affecting approximately 7 million customers. Genetic profiles contain our most biologically sensitive information and play a massive role in our future well-being.
Something to think about
With the advancement of generative AI, artists, writers, and programmers will quickly need to differentiate themselves from their automated counterparts. Quality will be repeatable, and original work will become licensable, but the value difference between something generated by AI vs. a human is still open for debate.
How will you differentiate yourself from the AI competition in your industry?
