The Data Download: In the land of data and AI, who gets to be king?

The Good
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace introduced the AI Global Surveillance (AIGS) Index, offering insights into global AI surveillance trends and governmental implementations.
The Bad
The AIGS Index shows that 51% of advanced democracies employ AI surveillance systems. The index also shows that we are witnessing a virtual cold-storage war regarding AI technology between China and the US. It’s up to you to know what side you’re on.
The Ugly
Just about everyone's buzzing about the possible TikTok ban in the US. But think of it like trying to stop a dam from bursting by sticking your finger in a tiny crack. Meanwhile, there's a free-for-all with data brokers selling our info abroad without any rules to keep them in check.
Something to think about
You’re data can be used to watch you and influence you.. The battle for TikTok is on display as a fight for our national security, but it looks an awful lot like a fight over who’s allowed to watch you and influence you. I don’t see a single report that actually addresses your personal privacy.
Do you think that TikTok should be banned in the US?
