The Good
The Department of Justice asked the public to weigh in on a new program that is designed to protect sensitive U.S. personal and government-related data. The proposal asks for public input to help define and establish an effective compliance framework.
The Bad
Do you like CAPTCHAs and two-factor authentication?
Neither do I, but apparently, 29% of users will stop using a service if the website has too many security steps. 63% will move to a competitor who makes it easier to authenticate their identity.
The Ugly
Change Healthcare reportedly paid AlphV hackers $22 million in Bitcoin to prevent the leak of patient data. Despite this, the company remains vulnerable to further extortion as the patient data is still at risk in the public domain.
Something to think about
Many people believe that the successful extortion of UnitedHealth Group will only encourage other ransomware gangs to target their attacks on healthcare companies.
